Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at wayne@waynesdaughtersgreenhouses.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Many customers notice a big difference between plants purchased at large retail stores and plants grown locally at Wayne's Daughters- and there's a simple reason why.

Large retail stores typically do not grow their own plants. Instead, plants are grown at large scale facilities and shipped long distances before reaching the store. To help plants stay compact and travel well, growers may use growth-regulating techniques that temporarily slow vertical growth. While this helps plants remain tidy during shipping and display, it can take time for them to fully resume active growth once planted.

At Wayne's Daughters, we grow our plants right here at the farm. Because our plants are locally grown and not shipped long distances, we focus on natural, healthy growth practices rather than keeping plants compact for transport.

What does this mean for you?

- Plants that establish quickly

- Strong root systems

- Vigorous growth once planted

When you plant a Wayne's Daughters plant, it's already acclimated to local conditions- and ready to grow!

Yes- there really are four daughters, and Wayne is their father.

Wayne's Daughters began as a family farm. The family first raised grain, then expanded into a large produce operation. More than 40 years ago, they began growing flowers alongside their produce. Over time, flowers became the heart of the business, and when demand for flowers surpassed produce, the farm naturally evolved into a full-time greenhouse operation: Wayne's Daughters Greenhouses.

The daughters have worked hard on the farm from a young age and continue to be actively involved in the business today. Along with their parents, Wayne and Sandra, the family owns and operates the business and works together year-round.

The name Wayne's Daughters was lovingly chosen by their mom, Sandra, as a reflection of the family behind the business. Their close-knit relationship and shared passion for growing are what make Wayne's Daughters not just a place to buy plants, but a place built on family, care, and community.

Our greenhouse selling season typically begins end of  April. From there, we remain open until we sell out, which is usually through the end of June.

Because our plants are grown on-site and availability depends on sales, closing dates may vary slightly from year to year. We recommend checking our website or social media for current updates as the season progresses.

Yes! We offer gift certificates year round, even when our greenhouse is not in season. Gift certificates make a thoughtful and flexible gift for any occasion.

To purchase, plase call (262) 835-1376, or stop in during our open hours.

Healthy, full plants take consistent care. To encourage strong growth, we recommend regular watering and fertilizing, along with routine maintenance throughout the season.

Removing spent blooms helps direct energy back into the plant, and pinching back new growth encourages plants to become fuller and bushier rather than tall and leggy. Proper pinching is especially important early in the growing season.

If you're unsure how or when to pinch your plants, any of the daughters would be happy to show you in person. We're always glad to offer tips and guidance to help your plants thrive!
